Ekiti State Executive Council has ratified the appointment of Prince Felix Adeniyi Afolabi as the new Oniro of Iro-Ekiti.


The State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun who made this known while briefing journalists on the outcome of the council's meeting , said the selection of Prince Afolabi was done in strict adherence to all necessary provision of the law guiding the selection of traditional rulers.

Reiterating the commitment of the Oni-led administration to ensuring problem-free succession process of traditional rulers in the state, Olatunbosun noted that the policy of the state government that limited the tenure of regents to a maximum of two years has considerably eliminated the acrimony usually
associate with selection processes. The Commissioner assured that the Oni-led administration would continue to
respect and protect the institution of Obaship as part of efforts at reaching and developing the grassroots.
The new Oniro, Prince Afolabi who holds a Masters degree in Environmental management is presently a Deputy Director, Environmental  Services in Ikole Local Government of the state.
