Ekiti people have been assured of improved supply of electricity from next week as the 133/32kv power substation that links the state to the national grid will be switched on before the end of the week. Speaking in his office in Ado Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun said the substation was completed and ready for commissioning, adding that it had been test run and adjudged ready for full utilization. Olatunbosun who reiterated the commitment of the Oni led administration to the rapid development of the state through the provision of necessary facilities that would enhance socio-economic activities in the state, assured that government would not relent its present monumental efforts at creating a conducive environment from economic activities to thrive in the state. The Commissioner said that over 1,000 completed projects would soon be commissioned in the state, noting that the present administration has embarked upon and completed more projects than all the previous administrations put together. The Government Spokesman posited that subsequent administrations would not have to belabor themselves on provision of infrastructures and would therefore have ample time and resources for contemporary projects as the projects of the present administration were tailored to take care of their specific sectors for a very long time. According to him, the completed projects that were expected to be commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan when he visits the state include over 500 kilometres of road, the newly rehabilitated and expanded Ureje Dam. Olatunbosun who stressed that all communities in the state now have good access roads and potable water supply, said it was an incontrovertible fact that the administration was doing well, adding that the focus is on completion of projects to the benefit of the people and not commissioning per se. The Information Commissioner said the Ureje Dam has a capacity of providing 51/2 million litres of potable water per day which is expected to ameliorate the problem of water supply in the state while the completion of the additional six buildings under construction at the state secretariat as well as the House of Assembly complex and the Deputy Governor?s office would solve office accommodation problems for public servants for a minimum of fifty years. While calling on the people to continually support the administration towards ensuring its success, Olatunbosun charged them to remain law-abiding and maintain the peace, saying that development could only thrive in an atmosphere devoid of rancor.
