Ekiti State
Government is to
undertake the redistribution of health workers in the state to combat
the
inadequacy of qualified health personnel in the rural areas, the State
Governor,
Engr. Segun Oni has said.

Governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti
today and
made available to journalists, that Governor Oni made this known while
playing
host to the people of Ilokun Ekiti led by Onilokuno of Ilokuno, Oba
Adebayo
Jegede who paid him a courtesy visit in Ado Ekiti .
The governor noted
that the inability of past
administrations in the state to ensure fair play in the distribution of
the
available human resources in the sector has led to the drought of
qualified
health workers in the rural areas thereby putting communities in the
areas at a
disadvantage .
He said the state
government was
poised to ensure that the lives of rural dwellers in the state are
safeguarded
by ensuring that personnel are posted to the rural areas as government
was
committed the wholesome distribution of workers in the sector .
This is a
corrective government.
We are not shy about that. Where we have identified a shortfall we will
get
nurses to fill the space. We cannot afford to allow the people in these
areas
to suffer,? he said.
The Governor
explained that 188 Blue
hospitals have been built so far by his administration to cater for the
health
needs of the people across
the state
noting about 100 additional ones would be
put in
place in the next phase to
ensure every
community in the state benefit from the gesture.
He said government
would ensure
the availability of qualified health personnel in all health
institutions across
the state to ensure that patients who visit the hospitals are in safe
hands.
Earlier, Oba
Adebayo had
commended the present administration in the state for its
people-oriented
programmes.
He tasked the state
government to
consider the community in its Blue Hospital Programme.
