| ONI CANVASSES SELF-HELP PROJECTS AMONG COMMUNITIES |

Ekiti State Governor, Engr Segun Oni has called on communities in the State to embark on self help projects to complement government’s efforts to develop the State even as he reiterated the commitment of his administration to improving health care delivery system in the State.
Chief Press Secretary to
the governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said in a statement made available to
journalists today that Governor Oni made this call while speaking in
Oye-Ekiti at the commissioning of a three- bedroom doctor’s quarters
and an ambulance donated to the State General Hospital, Oye-Ekiti by
the host community.The governor noted that the State Government alone cannot provide all the required facilities in all its health and education institutions in the over 200 communities in the State because of competing wants and dwindling resources the State government would rebuild the hospital and upgrade its facilities to the required standard during the coming fiscal year. He commended the Oye community for the initiative, urging other towns and villages in the state to emulate the gesture by contributing to the development of government institutions in their communities. The Governor called on Ekiti sons and daughters to come home and invest in their various communities now that government was striving to provide water, stable electricity, good roads and other amenities in all towns and villages in the State He pledged that his administration would be fair to all communities in the State in deciding the choice of the new College of Education to be established by the State Government. Earlier, the National President of the Oye Progressive Union (OPU), Engr. Samuel Ogunsakin said the projects donated by the community, including the three- bedroom doctor’s quarters and an ambulance were put in place at a cost of N10 million. While calling on the state government to upgrade the general hospital to a specialist hospital, the OPU president commended the Oni-Administration for embarking on the construction of the Oye-Ire road and the Oye-Are road projects. In his remarks the Oloye of Oloye, Oba Michael Ademolaju, who commended the State Government for exhibiting fairness in the distribution of amenities to communities in the State called on the Oni-Administration to site the proposed College of Education in his domain. |
