EKSG WARNS UNMARRIED YOUTHS AGAINST CHILD ABANDONMENT

         Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Mrs Biodun Olujimi has warned unmarried youths to desist from child abandonment.  Mrs Olujimi gave the warning when delegates of Community Developers from Ikere Local Government Area led by the wife of the chairman, Mrs. Tititlope Aluko brought an abandoned baby boy to her office in Ado-Ekiti
        The DGov. cuddling the abandoned baby in Ekiti State Specialists Hospital, Ado-EkitiThe Deputy Governor described child abandonment as unkind advised mothers to counsel their children on how to prevent unwanted pregnancy, stating that children are gifts from God.  Mrs. Olujimi charged youths to plan well for their future noting that young girls who abandoned their children might end up being childless in future.  She promised to sensitize the youths on dangers of unwanted pregnancy and how to give their children out for adoption
           Mrs Olujimi advised that the baby should be taken to State General Hospital for proper care and promised to contribute her own quota to the welfare of the baby.  The Deputy Governor named the child Abiodun Fayose gave him a cash of fifty thousand Naira.  In her speech, the wife of Ikere Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Titilope Aluko expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for her kind gesture.
             In an interview with Pressmen, Corporal Toyin Famuyibo from Nigeria Police Force, Ikere disclosed that the boy was picked up naked by Police Officers at around 9.30p.m. yesterday (18/01/06) in a refuse ground along Anaye-Eleyo Road, behind Nigeria Telecommunications (NITEL), Ikere-Ekiti. She added that the child was about two days old.
 
 
DR. AYO FAYOSE A VISIONARY LEADER- IKERE AND ISE/ORUN WOMEN (06/01/06)
     Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Bayo Ashana has commended the role of women in the continued sustenance of democracy in the country within the last six years. Mr. Ashana gave the commendation while receiving women leaders from Ikere and Ise/Orun Local Government Areas of the State in his office. The Commissioner solicited the support of women in the State for government of Dr. Ayodele Fayose in its bid to transform the State and position it to compete fairly with any other state of the Federation. He charged the visitors to mobilize their different communities to back the People's Democratic Part (PDP) government in the State for an overwhelming victory in the forth-coming elections.
     Earlier, the spokesperson for the group, a woman leader from Ikere-Ekiti, Chief (Mrs.) Mojisola Ogunjemilua has described Dr. Ayo Fayose as a visionary leader whose efforts to transform the state positively could only be compensated by giving him a chance to run for second term.
     While promising the continued support of the women folk in the State to the present administration Chief (Mrs.) Ogunjemilua stressed further that the performance of this government had surpassed that of the previous administrations all put together.
                      
GOV.FAYOSE PARDONS SUSPENDED TOP OFFICIALS - 05/01/06
Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has pardoned top officials of his government who were suspended for lateness to duty.  Governor Fayose who announced this after a meeting with the Ekiti State Head of Service and labour Leaders in the state however directed that each of the pardoned officials be issued with letters of query and strong letters of warning which must be reflected in their files.
     The Governor promised to pay more frequent visit to the state secretariat and Local Government Council warning that stiffer sanctions await any Government official caught reporting late for duty.  He explained that he decided to give the affected officers a reprieve because of the pleas of Head of Service and Labour Leaders in the state whom he commended for the esculent working relationship between Government and the work force.
      Earlier, the Head of Service, elder Segun Bankole who had appealed to Governor Fayose to temper justice with mercy in the case of the suspended officials said the Governor was justified in the taking of disciplinary measures on the matter as he had issued several warnings and circular bothering on lateness to duty to workers in the state in the past.  He assured the Governor that Civil Servants in Ekiti State would turn a new leaf in the new year stressing that the Fayose Administration was  the most labour-friendly government in the history of the state.
       In the same vein the acting chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ekiti State Chapter, Comrade Bunmi Ajimoko passionately appeal to Governor Fayose to pardon the suspended Civil Servants.
 
PDP TO FLAG OFF CAMPAIGN FOR BYE-ELECTION
       The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is to formally flag off the campaign for the bye-election to fill the vacant Ekiti South Federal Constituency I on Wednesday 11th January, 2006.  Governor Ayodele Fayose who made this known during a stakeholders meeting of the PDP in Ado-Ekiti expressed that the party would retain the Federal Constituency seat in the bye-election.
       He solicited the support and cooperation of all party members in ensuring the election of the PDP candidate, Mrs. Florence Akinwale.  While reacting to a Newspaper report that the Majeobaje group within the Party had endorsed the candidature of Hon. Femi Bamishile from Ekiti East for the vacant Federal House of Representatives seat, the Governor said the Party leadership in Ekiti East was solidly behind Mrs. Akinwale and the zoning of the position to Emure Local Government Area.  Governor Fayose who said discipline would be enforced to the letters within the party this year enjoined party members to make loyalty and dedication to the party their watchword this year.
     Governor Fayose disclosed that the state government poverty Alleviation program under which 10 Local beneficences would be chosen per all the polling stations across the 16 Local Government areas of the state would commence this month.  He said a committee made up of  his wife, Mrs Feyisatan Fayose, Deputy Governor Abiodun Olujimi, Senator Awoyelu, the secretary to the Government, Chief Bade Gboyega and other prominent people in the state had been constituted to ensure the smooth take-off of the program.        According to the Governor, beneficiaries of the poverty alleviation programme would be chosen among people who have not benefited in any way from the present administration in the polling area.
 
GOV. FAYOSE SUSPENDS SOME TOP OFFICIALS FOR
                                                         LATENESS TO DUTY -  03.01/06
     Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has ordered the suspension of all Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Directors who arrived late at their duty posts at the state Secretariat at Ado-Ekiti for one month without pay.  The Governor who gave the order when he paid a surprise visit to the State Secretariat said it was unfortunate that such a large number of civil servants were late for work on the first working day of the year.
      According to him, it was disheartening that civil servants in the state were not reciprocating government's gesture of prompt payment of the salaries and allowances as well as other steps government was taking to improve their welfare.
      Governor Fayose who arrived the state secretariat complex around 8.00a.m. accompanied by Deputy Governor, Mrs Abiodun Olujimi, the Head of Service, Elder Segun Bankole and Labour Leaders said it was quite shameful to see many of the civil servants coming late for work on the first working day of the year in their party wears and dresses.   Governor pardoned all the erring civil servants apart from the affected Permanent Secretaries and Directors, he however warned that lateness to duty by public officials would henceforth attracted stiff sanctions from his administration.
       The Governor said he was committed to leaving a good legacy of good roads, basic infrastructure and enforcing discipline in the State Civil service.
      According to him. Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries would henceforth be held responsible for lateness to duty and other lapses on the part of their staff. dr. Fayose charged civil servants to rededicate themselves to duty so that the State Government can achieve his set objectives this year.
 
 
EKITI STATE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE STAFF BEGIN 2006 WITH PRAYERS - 03.01/06
      The Staff of Ekiti State Governor's Office gathered together today, the first working day in the year to offer prayers to God. The prayer meeting was held in the Conference Hall, Governor's Office, Ado-Ekiti at 10a.m. on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006. The prayer meeting was precise by the state Head of Service, Elder Segun Bankole. All civil servants within the Governor's Office in the meeting were gladly praising God for sparing their lifes to know the new year. Passages of the scripture were read and a brief exhortation was given by Pastor Adenigba. He called the attention of all the civil servants to the mercy and other blessings of God in the life on the state in the last year. He added that if we praise God he is ready to do more in our life this year 2006.
      Gov. Fayose represented by his Deputy, Chief (Mrs) Abiodun Olujimi congratulates the workers for the new year and pray for the mercy and favour of God in their life and in land of Ekiti at large throughout the year. He then urged all the civil servants to be faithful in their duties as this will help in moving forward the state. He added that with the cooperation of the civil servants, the government will be able to accomplish his goal in transforming Ekiti and to complete all the project he has started.
       The Head of Service, Elder Segun Bamikole in his remark seeks for the cooperation and faithfulness of all the civil servants in the state, both small and great. He then prophesied new things to their individual life and to the Land of Ekiti at large.
 
PASTOR ADEBOYE IN ADO (24/12/05)
The leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A. Adeboye has led thousands of worshipers in a special prayer for Ekiti State.  The Ekiti State Governor had earlier enjoined the people of the State to participate fully in the special prayer.  The program took off at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado on Saturday,24th December, 2005 at 8 am..
 
 
EKITI OBAS ENDORSE FAYOSE FOR 2ND TERM - (23/12/05)
 
Traditional rulers unanimously endorsed Governor Ayo Fayose for a second term in office.        The royal fathers hinged their called excellent on performance and monumental achievements of Governor Fayose in the last two and a half years which, they said, must be allowed to continue. The over 120 monarchs from all the towns and communities from all the 16 local government areas of the state spoke at the end-of-the-year banquet organized for them and their Oloris’ in Ado Ekiti. The traditional rulers who spoke one after the other specifically pledged to go back to their respective communities and mobilize support for the government to actualise the second term bid anytime he declare his interest.
 
            “We are solidly behind you. We want you to continue with the good works you are doing. We want you to come out in 2007 and say you want to continue and if you do that, we will continue to support you and we will give you all the necessary backing because you are doing a wonderful job”, declared the Oore of Otun and chairman of the state council of Obas, Oba Adedapo Popoola. Continuing, Oba Popoola said “Every citizen of this state has the right to aspire to any position. But once a government is in place, it is the responsibility of the Obas to stand by the government so that it will be in a position to work in a very conducive atmosphere.“That is why I am soliciting that the Kabiyesis should rally round this governor, support him and pray for him so that he would be able to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy that his government has been identified with since 2003”.
            Oba Popoola’s view was also echoed by his vice, the Arinjale of Ise, Oba Ajayi, who particularly commended the governor for the massive rehabilitation and construction of roads especially the ones within his domain – Agbado – Ise and Ikere – Ise roads.
 
            The highly impressed monarch declared ‘if the governor has done well, let us tell him that he has done well so that we can encourage him to do more. “It is God that appoints a person into a position but it is for human to aspire to be in a particular position. So if our governor says he is contesting for the governorship position in 2007, I, one, will be solidly behind him and I want to move motion that His Excellency should be adopted as our potential governor in year 2007 because what he is doing right now, we want him to continue.
We want him to complete the projects he is doing. We don’t abandoned projects like it used to be in the past.  As for the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejuyigbe, Aladesanmi III, it was commendation galore for the governor for transforming the state capital and giving it a new lease of life.  “I join others to commend you for your effort and to say that the people of Ado-Ekiti are solidly behind you and we will continue to pray for you. The Alara of Aramoko, Oba Oluwole Amele said the state is already in the “season of success”, stressing that the season should be allowed to continue to guide against the enthronement of failure. “There had been a government before this one. There was never a time that we were here to say we want to give testimony of that government. I wont say that that government was a failure but it cannot be adequately called success. “So if we refuse success to continue, what are we inviting? We are inviting failure. Fayose is a success. Let him stay the number of years he wants to stay”, Oba Amele said . He charged his fellow monarchs to “go home, let your people know very well that we are in the season of success. We can’t stop success. Please give your support to the governor”.
 
MY HEART IS WITH THE LESS PRIVILEDGED  - FAYOSE (22/12/05)
           Over 2000 widows drawn from all the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, on Wednesday, benefited from Christmas/New Year gifts doled out by the state government. The widows smiled home with bags of rice, vegetable oil and some amount of money.
          Government Ayo Fayose who personally supervised the distribution in company of his deputy, Chief (Mrs) Biodun Olujimi and other top government officials at the Government House, said the move was borne out of his concern for the welfare of the less-privileged.  “Although it is not possible to satisfy the yearnings of everybody but we believe that we should do the little that we can for the people particularly the less-privileged ones so that they too can have a sense of belonging and be made happy at this yuletide period”, the governor said.
          The essence of any government, according to Fayose, was to provide good governance to the people and take care of its citizens, stressing “this is exactly what we are doing”.  The governor explained that the gesture had no political undertone, as beneficiaries were not taken care of on the basis of their political affiliations.
          “I was once like them and so, I know where the shoe pinches, and I still share their problems.  I feel there is the need to identify with them and make them happy”.   The widows expressed their gratitude to Governor Fayose for the kind gesture, describing it as unprecedented in the history of the state.
 
UNAD COLLEGE OF MEDICINE  TO TAKES OFF FEBRUARY, 2006 – FAYOSE (22/12/05)
The foundation stone of the College of Medicine of the University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD) will be laid in February 2006.This development will put off the speculations that the state government had cancelled the College of Medicine. The project will commence with the building of an administrative block and other structures required for the take-off of the college.
Governor Ayo Fayose who disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday 21/12/05 at the last state executive council meeting for the year 2005, said a renowned Professor of Medicine would be appointed to chair the committee that would work on the fresh take-off of the college.
The governor said that attention would be paid to two of the state hospitals- the state Specialist Hospitals in Ado-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti with a view to re-positioning and upgrading them to meet the challenges of tertiary health care delivery. “We must put a stop to situations where our people go to Ife (OAU Teaching Hospital) and Ibadan (UCH) for medical attention.  We must reposition these two hospitals in such a way that people will be coming here from all over the place for comprehensive medical attention”, he stated.
Fayose said that attention would also be focused on the beautification of Ado-Ekiti in order to have a befitting state capital that will compete with others in the country, stressing that the on-going dual carriage way in Ado-Ekiti township would be completed before the end of the first quarter next year.
He commended members of the state executive council and the permanent secretaries for their support cooperation and assistance during the year, a situation that, he said, has culminated in all-round development of the state.
He however named the state Commissioner for Education, Dr (Mrs) Esther Fabusuyi and the Permanent Secretary in the state Planning Commission as the Best Commissioner and Permanent Secretary respectively for the year with an award of N250,000 each.  
 
                    GOV. FAYOSE DONATES BUS TO MARKET WOMEN - 21/12/05
       Ekiti State Governor, Dr Ayodele Fayose has on behalf of the state Government Presents a brand new 18-seater to the Ekiti State Market Woman Association.   Speaking at the presentation in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Fayose said the bus was donated to the association to enable its members and officials move about and travel without problem.
      The Governor who advised the leaders of the market woman association to carry the entire members of the association along in their programmes also urged them to ensure that whatever goodies that come to the association were shared among its rank and file.  He urged the leadership of the association to shun polities of exclusion, which according to him negatively affected the past executive of the woman group.
The Governor later presented Rice, vegetable oil and N500.000 cash gift to 15 of the 16 Local Government chapters of the Association in the State.
      Dr Fayose who said market in Ado-Ekiti had carillon benefited from the same gesture, explain that the presentation of the foodstuff and cash was to show appreciation to the market-Woman for their overwhelming support for is Administration during the out-going year.  Receiving the key to the new bus, the leader of the Ekiti State Market Women Association, Chief (Mrs) Olabisi Okunshile expressed appreciation to the Government for the new bus.
     While pledging the support and cooperation of the entire market women in the Ekiti Sate to the Fayose-administration, Mr Okunshile said market women were ready to actively participate in Government’s campaign if he decides to recon test in 2007.
Deputy Governor Abiodun Olujimi was among important dignitaries who attended the bus presentation.
 
 
                            AFAO DAY 2005 CELEBRATED - 20/12/05
Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose has charged the people of Afao-Ekiti to ensure that their children attain the required academic qualification needed for them to occupy top management position in the public service and private sector.
Speaking during this year’s Afao Day Celebration and launching of N50 million for development projects in the community, Governor Fayose charged the youths Gov. Fayose and Alafao during the occasionof the town to take their education seriously.
He said his administration was an objective one that will not favour an unqualified Afao man at the expense of more qualified indigenes of the State.
Dr. Fayose charged all indigenes of the town occupying public office to make selfless service their watchword.
He called on them to take a cue from the late business mogul, Chief Lawrence Omolayo and Chief Deji Fasuan, two indigenes of the town who made their marks in Ekiti Sate and beyond through their hard work and diligence.
While highlighting projects embarked upon by his administration in Afao in the last 21/2 years, the Governor expressed happiness that he had contributed his quota to the development of his place of birth.
He assured that the Afao/Ire/Ilupeju road would be completed soon.
Governor Fayose appealed to guests at the event to donate generously to the N50 million fund raising for the construction of ultra-modern Oba’s Palace and the provision of pipe-borne water to every home in the community.
Over N12 million was realised at the event in which friends and associates of the Governor as well as contractors and traditional rulers donated generously.
