ALUKO The New Multi-million naira Accountant General’s office complex under construction in Ado-Ekiti is to be named after renounced Economist, Prof. Sam Aluko. Governor Ayodele Fayose who made this known during the 2005 annual dinner organized by Ekiti Parapo Lagos, a social cultural association of Ekiti indigenes based in Lagos, said the Accountant-General’s Office and the New Governor’s office would be ready for commissioning next February. The Governor explained that the gesture was in line with the philosophy of the State Government to honour indigenes of Ekiti State who have made their moves in their God chosen fields while they were still alive. This according to him prompted the State Government to name the multi-million naira Banquet hall at the Trade Fair Complex after the retired Primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Abiodun Adetiloye early this year. He said the recent rating of Ekiti State has the 4th best State in Nigeria in terms of good governance, proper execution of projects and transparency was a clear indication that his efforts at developing the State were yielding positive results. Governor Fayose later highlighted some completed and on-going projects embarked upon by his administration through the use of a audio-visual slides to the enthusiastic audience. She solicited the cooperation and support of members of the Ekiti Parapo Lagos in the task of transforming Ekiti to one of the leading State in Nigeria. The Governor announced a donation of N5 million payable in 5 installments to the association on-behalf of the State Government. Earlier in his address, the president of Ekiti Parapo Lagos, Sir Remi Omotosho commended Governor Fayose for his landmark achievements in the State in the last 2½ years. He said members of the association were willing to collaborate with the State Government to set up Cottage industries across the State. The high point of the ceremony was the investiture of Governor Fayose as Grand patron of the Association and the presentation of award of recognition on the immediate past president of the association, Chief Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi and Deputy Governor Adebisi Omoyeni who until his appointment5 was the secretary of the association. The dinner was attended by Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Friday Aderemi, members of the Ekiti State Executive Council, captain of industries, University Dons and other Ekitis from all walks of life. FAYOSE AND EWI SETTLE THE DIFFERENCES Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose and the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe have agreed to resolve their differences in the interest of the State. The two leaders announced their resolve to bury the hatchet while addressing the press after a successful peace meeting brokered by the National Vice Chairman, South West of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Yinka Omilani; Retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olajide Olatawura; Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adedapo Popoola and legal practitional, Chief Afe Babalola. Governor Fayose who thanked God for bringing the feud between him and the monarch to an end said he had no personal animosity against the Ewi and the people of Ado-Ekiti. He attributed the no-too-good relationship between him and the Ewi to the last two years to political gladiators who were benefiting from the impasse. The Governor assured that he was fully committed to the development of Ado-Ekiti which had taken large chunk of his Government’s developmental efforts, in the last two and a half years. Earlier, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe had expressed joy that the misunderstanding between him and the Governor was over. He expressed appreciation to president Obasanjo, Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Omilani, Justice Olatawura, Chief Afe Babalola and all those who facilitated the peace deal. The Royal father who said that he did not granted a single interview while the crises lasted appealed to press to be always objective while reporting matters affecting the people of Ado and the Governor. Governor Fayose and the Ewi later drove in a motorcade from the presidential lodge venue of the press briefing to the Ewi’s palace where they held another meeting with the Ewi-in-council and the people of Ado-Ekiti. EKROMA TO COMMENCE LG ROAD REHABILITATION SOON. – 21/10/05 The Ekiti Kete Road Maintenance Agency (EKROMA) will soon embark on the rehabilitation of local government roads across all the 16 council areas in Ekiti State. Governor Ayo Fayose, disclosed this during an inspection tour of the agency in Ado-Ekiti, said the rehabilitation exercise would commence during the forthcoming dry season. To make EKROMA more effective, efficient and responsive to the task, the governor pledged to put the agency in functional shape to meet the challenges of road rehabilitation for which it was set up.According to the governor, the exercise was delayed till the dry season so that the roads can stand the test of time.On how the exercise would be done, Fayose explained that the agency’s equipment would be moved from one local government area to another as work progresses. Fayose attributed the decision to rehabilitate local government roads through EKROMA to the commitment of his administration to developing infrastructural facilities that would bring about the desired development to the state.The governor, who did not state which council area the rehabilitation exercise would first commence, assured that all council areas would be covered before the end of the forthcoming dry season. While expressing dissatisfaction with the performance of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in the state which has left most federal roads across the road in deplorable condition, Fayose however said he had got in touch with the Federal Ministry of Works with an assurance that the agency would soon swing into action in the state. PEOPLE AFFECTED BY ROAD DUALIZATION TO GET COMPENSATION – 16/10/05Landlord and occupants of shops and structures located along the Motor Park and Ijigbo junction in Ado-Ekiti have been given two weeks ultimatum to pack their belongings in preparation for imminent demolition exercise which is part of the on-going dualization project of the Ado-Ekiti township roads. Governor Ayodele Fayose gave the indication today while addressing affected landlords and occupants of shops in the area during a project monitoring exercise in the state capital.The Chief Executive assured that arrangement has been made for the payment of compensation to the affected property owners said the payment would commence a week later. Dr. Fayose reiterated that the dualization project was being carried out in the developmental interest of Ado-Ekiti as the state capital and the glory of Ekiti State as a whole. He explained that the project would beautify the State Capital, ease traffic and enlist the State among the comity of State with dual carriage ways and a befitting State capital.The Landlords and Traders occupying most of the commended the Governor for his efforts at developing the State and gave him assurance of their cooperation. They also thanked him for the promise of compensation to them and assured him of continuous support to his administration. |
FAYOSE TO RELEASE N10 MILLION IN AID OF DRF – 12/10/05 Ekiti state Governor, Dr Ayodele Fayose has promised to release N10 million to the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme of the state health sector in order to make people benefits more from it. The chief Executive expressed happiness about the running of the scheme and commended the management staff, Including the Permanent Secretary, Health Management Board, Dr Cletus Oladele for doing a good job. The Governor stated commitment to good health and welfare of citizens and applauded community participation in the DRF scheme which he said has contributed greatly to the success recorded so far. Earlier, at the commissioning of some essential drugs and dressing equipment within the same premises, Governor Fayose directed that those people caught breaking into the Drug store to pilfer drugs should be prosecuted in order to serve as deterrents to others. He also stated Government’s resolve to reclaim the pieces of land belonging to the State Specialist Hospital, Ado, which encroached upon by some individuals, adding that Government would soon take possession of it. The chief Executive assured that a proper college of medicine would be established adding that N200million would be earmarked annually for the project for the next four years. Dr Fayose who was obviously thrilled by the performance of the state cultural Troupe at the occasion assured them that the coaster Bus he promised them would be given to them as Christmas gift this year. The Governor promised to continue to do his best in order to give his Government a Human face later commissioned a block of classrooms at the school of Nursing premises Ado-Ekiti. In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Hospital Management Board, Dr Cletus Oladele disclosed that the newly acquired drugs and dressing equipment worth over N20million. Dr Oladele thanked Governor Ayodele Fayose for his support to the Health sector and promised a judicious use of the drugs and equipment. The chairman of the state Management committee of the DRF, Oba James Oladele Popoola, the Oore of otun, in an address delivered on his behalf by Pharmacist Ajole Oluwasanmi, applauded the involvement of the grassroots people in the DRF programme. Oba Popoola noted that there had been a remarkable increase in the number of people using the DRF facilities and the revenue accruing to it as a result of increased patronage. The Oore charged the Executive to initiate a bill on the programme and forward it to the State House of Assembly in order to give the scheme a legal backing. |
World Teachers Day Celebrated with Fanfare in Ekiti - Fayose doles out Goodies. - 06/10/05 Ekiti State Government reiterated its commitment to education improvement yesterday, Wednesday, 5th October, 2005 at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti during the World Teachers Day celebration. The occasion was celebrated specially in the state the kind of which has not been. The Chief Executive showed his interest in lifting the education standard of the state to greater heights when he donated two cars to the best teacher of the year in both secondary and primary schools.At the ceremony, three teachers, Chief Kehinde Ojo, Chief Bayo Adeniran and Chief (Mrs)Anjorin were promoted as Tutor General on consolidated scales. Each was picked from each of the Ekiti State Senatorial Districts The occasion was witnessed by the new Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Adebisi Omoyeni, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Esther Fabusuyi, some other top officials and thousands of teachers in the state. |
