(Speaks with Maryland Legislature) - (14/07/05)
The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Chief Friday Aderemi wants American Legislators to prevail on the government to be Liberal in its policies on poor nations of the World.  Chief Aderemi who was speaking during a rapport with Legislators from the State of Maryland, in the United States hinted that the rich countries of the world have moral obligation to assist the growth of the poor nation.  He explained that, the escalating spate of terrorist attack on Western nations could be born out of frustration arriving from hungers, poverty and improvement, which was the plight of the third world nations of African. Asia and Latin American.

The Speaker stated further that often times, individuals’ extremists; while he said such indulgence was a product of perpetually hopeless conditions of living of the alleged terrorists.  The Legislators also warned against what he charged as economic exploitation in the name of institutionalising democracy, as he noted that democracy was a culture, which could not be imposed, but must be accepted voluntarily, nurtured and built in the sub-consciousness of the people.

Chief Aderemi also called on the United State government and its security agencies to be cautious in its security report on the country, as he warned that such report was capable of breeding discord and igniting social unrest, a development which he noted would spelt doom for the United state, since Nigeria’s political stability would play very significant role, in the stability of the African continent.

FAYOSE CHARGES POLITICAL APPOINTEES ON LOYALTY

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has said that he would not hesitate to sack any cabinet member whose loyalty to him or his government is doubted. Dr. Fayose gave the indication on Tuesday, 24th May, 2005 in his office during the swearing-in-ceremony of the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Chief of Staff to the Governor. He stressed that loyalty was the watchword for anybody serving in his Government adding that whoever that was not loyal was certainly an enemy of his administration and consequently has no business working with him.

The Governor disclosed that he had a divine call to restructure his Government in order to reposition it for greater future challenges saying nothing would stop him from obeying the instructions of God Almighty.

The Chief Executive charged the Government functionaries sworn-in to be loyal to the Government and live up to expectation. Dr. Fayose told the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Bayo Asana to resume working immediately directed him to preside over the State/Local Government Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting scheduled for today, 24th May, 2005. He also directed the new Secretary to the State Government, Chief Bade Gboyega to assume the Chairmanship of the State’s Tenders Board.

The top Government functionaries sworn-in were Chief Bade Gboyega as the new Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Bayo Asana as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Pastor Kola Oluwawole as the new Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Responding on behalf of the newly sworn-in members, the secretary to the State Government, Chief Bade Gboyega thanked Governor Ayodele Fayoses for giving them the opportunity to serve the State Government. Chief Gboyega who pledge their loyalty to Governor Fayose and Government affirmed that their appointment has married them to Governor Fayose as partners in the task of developing the State.

The occasion was attended by the Deputy Governor, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko; the former SSG, Evangelist. Ade Alofe; the Head of Service, Elder Segun Bankole; Traditional Rulers across the State, top Government functionaries; Chairmen of Local Government and PDP stalwarts in the State.

EKITI GET N37.4M DIVIDENDS FROM OMEGA BANK -(14/07/05)

The state Government has received divided of N37.4million (37,427,859.33) from the Omega bank Plc.  Receiving the cheque in his office on Monday, Ekiti State Government, Dr Ayodele Fayose stated that the dividend would be supplement to make up N100 million, adding that it would be expended on the development of the NYSC Orientation camp at Ise-Emure Ekiti.

The Governor remark that the disagreement between the State Government and Omega Bank was not personal but official and wished the bank good luck as it went to the capital bank to raise money and in its merger with other banks to meet the requirement of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Presenting the cheque on-behalf of the Board and Management of the Omega Bank Plc, the Vice President, Ekiti Network of the bank, Mr Dayo Akinwomiwa explained that the amount represented the dividend of the state’s investment in the bank for 2004/2005 financial year.

Mr. Akinwolemiwa who said his bank has signed memorandum of understanding with two banks for a merger said Omega bank was going to raise 8.5billion from the Capital market and advised investors to buy shares saying it was lucrative and rewarding.

He hinted that the capital base of the bank at the end of the public offer would increase to N50 billion.  Mr. Akinwolemiwa who agree that the misunderstanding between the state Government and the Omega bank was Official however opined that recent development might have overtaken the disagreement.  The Ekiti networking Vice President affirmed that his bank has been supporting the economy of the state saying the bank has about 15 branches in Ekiti state.

Meanwhile, Governor Ayodele Fayose has donated two hundred thousand-naira aid of the 2005 corper week celebration in Ekiti.  The Governor made the announcement while receiving members of the NYSC who were on a rally to the Governor’s Office as part of events marking the celebration assured that his Government would spend N100 million on the development of the NYSC orientation camp at Ise-Emure Ekiti in order to make life more comfortable for them at the camp.

Earlier, the spokesperson of the corps member, Corper Okoroafor Chinaka said they were in the Governor’s Office to receive his blessing for their week and thanked him for his support to the NYSC.

EMIR OF ILORIN COMMENDS FAYOSE - (14/07/05)
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has observed that the incessant opposition and virulent criticism of the Fayose administration in Ekiti State was due to the good performance of Governor Fayose.  Alhaji Sulu Gambari gave the indication in his palace at Ilorin on Thursday last week during a courtesy call on him by the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose.
            The Emir noted that the Ekiti State Governor knew the right thing to do and was doing it to the benefit and admiration of the common people, adding that his acceptance and popularity were major sources of worry and concern to his opponents who wanted to hijack power from him. The monarch explained that the opponents and enemies of Governor Fayose would have loved him, had Fayose not known the right things to do and has invited the opposition to come and do it for him.
            Alhaji Sulu Gambari stated that in as much as Dr. Fayose continued to do well the enemies would not like him and would be looking for ways to bring him down or discredit his administration.  The Emir who suspected that the recent allegation of assassination plot on the life of Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) might have been the handwork of Fayose’s enemies however commended Fayose’s humility and efforts at reconciling with the legal luminary and Ekiti elder statesman.
            The royal father who described Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) as his personal friend assured that efforts would be made by him to ensure that the peace brokered between Governor Fayose and Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) was sustained and endured. He commended the good work of Governor Fayose in Ekiti State, advised him not to relent and gave assured of continuous prayer and support to make him succeed.
            Earlier, the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose explained that he was in Kwara State to brief Ekiti indigenes resides in Kwara State about the activities of his Government and get their input towards improving Government performance.
            Dr. Fayose affirmed the cordial relationship between him and his Kwara State counterpart, Dr. Bukola Saraki, saying such a relationship led to their agreement to rehabilitate their common border road through Etan-Ikun in other to enhance free and unhindered access to the two States.   The Ekiti Chief Executive assured that work would begin on the Ikun-Ekiti-Etan-Kwara border road as soon as the rainy season was over this year.
            Dr. Fayose appreciated the support and prayers of the Emir and his people for him as well as Dr. Bukola Saraki and solicited for more, in order to make them record greater achievements.
            The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Chief Joel Ogundeji represented his Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki at the occasion while members of the Ekiti State Executive Council as well as PDP Chieftains were also in attendance.   
Commendation Gallore for Fayose - (9/08/05)
It was commendation gallore for Governor Fayose of Ekiti State at a grand reception organised in his Gov.Oyinlola (right) presenting Gov. Fayose (Left) the award plate from City People.honour on Tuesday, 8th August 2005 at Ado-Ekiti by “The City People Magazine” where people from all walks of life paid glowing tributes to the Ekiti State’s hallmarks.

The Landmark achievements of the Governor spanning all spheres of life and his contributions to the development of humanity in general ware greatly acknowledged by the people and encomiums and prayers were showered on him for greater success. The Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, applauded the media honour            Governor Fayose as a right stop in the right direction saying the gesture would encourage the young people to create a worthy leader like Dr. Fayose as well as serving as enviable example to other leaders. CitingOyo State First Lady Congratulating Gov. Fayose the example of Governor Fayose, Prince Oyinlola advised that greater emphasis should be placed on service delivery while religious, social and political intolerance should be deemphasized. He described Fayose as a generational testimony and congratulated him on the occasion of the honour and for his numerous achievements.

The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Alhaja Yinka Ladoja who was also present at the occasion described Governor Ayodele Fayose as a good leader worthy of emulation and urged him to quickly make up his mind on his 2007 gubernatorial election which people have been urging him to contest.

 
The Chairman of the occasion and member, PDP National Board of Trustees, Dr, Bode Olajumoke said he was impressed and proud of the laudable efforts of Governor Fayose adding that he was part of the PDP fact-finding team that inspected and assessed the projects executed by Governor Fayose.  Dr. Olajumoke marveled at Fayose reverence for God saying he put God first in everything he did and stated that he would continue to succeed with that spirit.  The PDP boss attested to Fayose’s popularity among the grassroots people, students and the entire society and congratulated the people of the post for having the caliber of man like Ayodele Fayose in the saddle as Governor.  Dr. Olajumoke who observed that Governor Fayose’s best was yet to come solicited people’s support for him to enable him deliver more dividends of democracy to them.
In his speech, the publisher of City People Magazine, Mr Seye Kehinde described the Ekiti State Governor as a phenomenon and a generational success.
The spokesman of the youths at the occasion, Mr. Tope Ayeni described Governor Fayose as a shinning example for the good works he started.
The Oore of Otun and Chairman, Ekiti State Council for Traditional Rulers, Oba Oladapo Popoola described Governor as a listening, amiable and transparent man who was doggedly committed to the development of the people.
Oba Popoola denied the rumour that Governor Fayose was under and quarrelsome with the Traditional rulers saying it was a figment of imagination of Fayose’s enemies.
 The Alara of Aramoko, Oba Oluwole Amolo who noted that the next thing after success was failure urged the people to delay Governor Fayose, whom he described as a success in office.
The secretary to the State Government, Chief Bade Gboyega said Governor Fayose was a workaholic performer,  and a defender of his people’s rights.
The Ekiti State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Oyebisi Omoleye described Fayose as a humane and passionate man congratulated him on the honour done him and remarked that it was a well deserved honour.
Senator Braimoh Yusuf from Ogbomoso, Oyo State said he and his people appreciated the worth of Dr. Fayose and wondered if Ekiti people could release him to them.
Senator Yusuf requested the gathering to stand up and prayers were said for the success of the Governor.
The colourful occasion was attended by popular Artistes and Musicians like Dele Taiwo, Alariwo of Africa and the Ekiti State Cultural Troupe who treated the Governor and others to nice time at the occasion.

RAFAG BUS COMMISSIONED - (17/08/05)

GOVERNOR FAYOSE AT THE COMMISSIONINGThe office and an operations bus of the Reformed Agenda for Advancing Governance, an NGO was commissioned by His Excellency, Dr, Ayo Fayose on 17th August 2005.  In his comments at the occasion, the Governor reiterated his Administration’s aim at identifying with any constructive advice from well meaning citizens.  He noted that when he is wrong, he should be told but with alternative suggestions.  He lauded the organizers of the NGO for their usual constructive advice to his government.

In his address, the Chairman of RAFAG outlined the aims of his organisation as follows:
“To set standards in advancing good governance such as:
Reformed Agenda in provision of Infrastructures THE RAFAG BUS
Reformed Agenda in Provision of Social Services
Reformed Agenda in Service Delivery
Reformed Agenda in Accountability in Governance
Reformed Agenda in Poverty Eradication
Reformed Agenda in Promoting Cultural and Academic Institutions.
The objectives of RAFAG include:
Re-orientation of the People to appreciate societal values
Advancement of Peace in the Communities as a means of creating a conducive environment for sustainable development.
Furtherance the establishment of Linkages and contacts with government, political and community leaders in order to harmonise approaches toward finding solutions to peculiar problems facing the citizenry. THE RAFAG OFFICE
Activation of a platform for effective mobilization, articulation and presentation of ideas and programmes that could influence government policies for improved governance.
Generation of Employment for the enhancement of self, family and community development. 
The success of RAFAG since its inception can be evaluated from the prisms of these objectives.
The group has been identifying with the good work of His Excellency, Dr. Ayodele Fayose. These have been demonstrated in press releases, Advertorials, distribution of handbills, posters, physical presence at several Government functions etc.
Rafag Patron, Dr FagbeyiroIt is noteworthy that the group has within in its short lifespan brought about reconciliation of some of the Government’s critics and opposition with the reality and appreciation of the limitations of Government. Some of these strong critics have become friendly and canvassers of Government support. No doubt such converts will ensure that their strong followers follow the path of reconciliation and government support.
RAFAG as a collection of Technical and Professional persons has attracted people who believe in advancing good governance from the very professional and ethical perspectives irrespective of their political leaning”.
A CROSS-SECTION OF RAFAG MEMBERS“There have been different interpretations of the full meaning of RAFAG. Some people have interpreted it as Return Ayo Fayose As Governor. Much as the acronym RAFG fits into this, we hasten to say that His Excellency has often repeated that he’s yet to complete the programmes he sets for himself for the mandate already given. A second term ambition is therefore not his priority now. The Reformed Agenda for Advancing Governance (RAFAG) will therefore not take on itself a project that has not been initiated or planted. When we get to the bridge, we shall decide and plan on how to cross it. RAFAG shall pursue its objectives without any diversion, let or hindrance.  In advancing Good Governance, the group shall use the public media to appreciate the good works of the government and use the private to offer necessary advice on issues that could threaten the stability and peace of the State”
 

WELFARE OF TEACHERS OUR PRIORITY - FAYOSE (22/05/08)

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose says his administration would continue to give priority attention to the welfare, morale and motivation of the over 16,000 teachers in public schools across the State. Speaking in Ado-Ekiti at the commissioning of 400 motorcycles procured by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), for primary school teachers in the State, Governor Fayose said the importance of teachers to the educational development of children and the nation could not be over emphasized.

The Governor who stated that his administration inherited a highly demoralized teaching service when it came on board in May, 2003 said a lot had been done to address the myriad of problems militating against teachers in the State.

Governor Fayose who disclosed that it was compulsory for primary and secondary school teachers to sing the Ekiti anthem alongside the National anthem every school day also directed SUBEB to ensure that every pupil passing out of public primary schools in the State plants a tree in their alma-mater as their contribution towards the sustenance of the environment.

He said the Jigawa State Government had provided 10,000 tree seedlings to the Ekiti State Government for the programme while the State has also pledged to donate 16 cattle heads to the 16 Local Government wings of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, (NUT) in the state during the 2005 Teacher’s Day Celebrations. Governor Fayose acceded to the request earlier made by his Jigawa State counterpart, Dr. Saminu Turaki by announcing that the State Government would donate N10 million to off-set 25% of the amount to be paid by each of the teachers who benefited on SUBEB motorcycle hire purchase scheme.

In his remarks, the Jigawa State Governor, Dr. Saminu Turaki stressed the importance of teachers to the up bringing of the child, charged Ekiti State teachers to support Governor Fayose in his quest to turn around the fortunes of the State. Governor Turaki urged Ekiti teachers to actively support Governor Fayose if he eventually decides to re-contest in 2007 stressing that teachers in Jigawa State donated 5 buses to his campaign organisation when he re-contested in 2003.

Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the State Primary Education Board (SUBEB) Prince Akin Olayisade commended the Governor Fayose for making the issue of welfare of teachers and the entire workers of Ekiti State a topmost priority of his administration. He highlighted the achievements of SUBEB in the last two years to include the recruitment of qualified teachers, promotion of stagnated teachers, regular workshops and training for teachers, renovation of dilapidated schools and construction of rural staff quarters of 5-bedroom bungalow with modern amenities at Ilemeso, Ipere, Ise, Ilupeju-Ijan, Oke Ako, Erijiyan, Ejiko, Ikoro and Ogotun.

Prince Olayisade said the 400 motorcycles would go a long way to solving the problems of transportation among teachers adding that the beneficiaries would pay for motorcycles instalment for 24 consecutives months.
