EKITI STATE WEBSITE COMMISSIONED
Governor Ayodele Fayose commissioned the official Website of Ekiti State on Monday 24th of May,2004 at the conference hall of the Governor’s office. The Website www.ekitinigeria.net was developed entirely by the State Directorate of Information Technology, under the Ministry of Special Duties. It is also worthy of note that the State Government has equally acquired a virtual private server that will enable the State Government host other domains and issue out secured E-mail accounts. Anybody at anywhere in the world can now view what is going on in Ekiti State through Internet. Below is the address of Governor Fayose during the occasion. AN ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY MR. The Rt. Hon Speaker of the State House of Assembly,Hon Chief Judge,Members of the State Executive Council,The Secretary to the State Government,The Head of Service,Chairmen of Boards and Commissions,Permanent Secretaries,Leaders of our Great Party,Chairmen of Local Governments,My Lords Spiritual & Temporal,Ladies and Gentlemen, I feel highly delighted to address you on the occasion of the official commissioning of Ekiti State Website and Ekiti State Private Web Server. 2. At the commissioning ceremony of Ekiti State Information Technology Centre on Tuesday 23rd December 2003, I reiterated the fact of this administration’s commitment to a progressive utilisation of resources within the State Government to launch Ekiti State into the Global village of Information Technology. Since the establishment of the centre, the State Government has been enjoying an uninterrupted access to the Internet 3. Today’s occasion is unique in the sense that the website being launched was developed entirely by the State Directorate of Information Technology, under the Ministry of Special Duties. It is also worthy of note that the State Government has equally acquired a virtual private server that will enable the State Government host other domains and issue out secured E-mail accounts. The import of this is: i. Ekiti State now has up to 1.5 Gigabyte of disk space permanently available on the Internet.ii. Ability to issue out unlimited E-mail accounts.iii. Unlimited User account.iv. Unlimited virtual host.4. Undoubtedly Information Technology has become the foundation for development. The Internet is placing increasing demand on organisations and government to give adequate information about the activities and stewardship to the citizen. Consequently, my government is utilising the Internet capability that we have acquired, not only to propagate the activities of government, but to show greater commitment to accountability and probity towards the citizenry. 5. It is encouraging to note that some Ekiti citizens have started responding to the Website which was put on the Internet only last Thursday. I therefore enjoin the Ekiti people in diaspora to embrace the unique opportunity presented by this achievement. 6. E-mail accounts will be created after this 
occasion for myself, my deputy, all Commissioners and Special Advisers and key members of this administration. An aggressive training plan will be devised for all officers of the state government. The services will also be extended to the masses through a planned enterprise-class cyber café to be established in a strategic position within the state capital.7. It is my pride and pleasure to declare open the Ekiti Website and private web-server for the glory of God and benefit of generality of the people of Ekiti State.8. Thank you and God bless".
