| The Hospitals’ Management Board was established by the edict of 1978 as a body corporate with perpetual succession and common seal, to have power to sue in its corporate name and to acquire, hold or dispose of moveable and immovable property for the purpose of its operation under the law setting it up. The amendment law is being processed to be released as a law establishing HMB in Ekiti state.
MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARDThe following are the members of the Board i. The Chairman (Full Time) and Chief Executive ii. Four members (part time) iii. Ex-Officio member to include one representative each of Ekiti State Branch of: a. Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) b. Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) c. National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwife (NANNM) d. One other profession allied to health e. One representative of the Federal Tertiary Health Institution in Ekiti State presently the Federal Medical Centre, Ido-Ekiti. f. One representative of field staff, usually the Chief Medical Director SSH, Ado-Ekiti g. One representative of state owned territory Health institution (if and when available) h. Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of health and list below the rank of director. i. The Permanent Sectary, Hospital Management Board, who is the accounting officer, and secretary to the Board.
FUNDING OF HOSPITALEach hospital is granted the status of Cost Accountability Centre. Hence, the hospital relies on the meager internally generated revenue to meet its recurrent expenses.
PERSONNEL: Management of personnel for enhance productivity. WORK: General maintenance of building and infrastructure. AUDIT: Examination of financial transaction to ensure compliance with establishment procedure in service. INSTRUMENT: Repair and maintenance of Hospital equipment and tools TRANSPORT: Management of transport system including repair and maintenance PLANNING RESEARCH AND STATISTICS: Collection and collation of data in Hospital efficient system of research.
THE DIRECTORATE OF PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICESSummary of activities: The department of Pharmaceutical Services is saddled with the responsibilities of ensuring good Pharmaceutical services in the Secondary Health Institution under the Hospital s’ Management Board. The pharmaceutical services include: i. General administration of the department ii. Purchase and distribution of all drugs and dressing, required in all hospitals iii. Processing or purchasing of drugs through the state tenders board. iv. Management of the drug revolving Fund scheme at the board Headquarters as well as the Local DRF. v. Supervising the various pharmacy departments in all hospital under the HMB vi. Drug information and counseling Unit. vii. Employment, posting, welfare, promotion and discipline of pharmacy staff. viii. Any other functions as directed by the Permanent Secretary ix. Purchase and distribution of drugs are divided into two schemes a. The Drugs for Deferral and Exemptions. b. DRF drugs

Special Clinic are available at State Specialist Hospital, Ado - Ekiti in the following days: Eye out Patient Clinic - Monday, Wednesday and Friday Eye operation days - Thursday Ear nose and Throat Out patient - Monday and Friday Ear nose and Throat operation day - Wednesday Cardiogical Clinic - Wednesday Orthopadic Clinic and operation day - Obstretics emergencies - any time of the day
