Governor FFTF Feedback State Acct. | The office of the State Auditor General is a full arm of Government Establishment statutorily deriving its Powers from the Promulgated constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 section 125(2) clearly defines the functions of the State Auditor General as follows:“The Public accounts of a state and of all offices and Courts of the State shall be audited by the Auditor General of the State concerned and for that purpose, the Auditor General or any person authorized by him in that behalf shall have access to all books, records, returns and other documents". In a nutshell, the Auditor General is required to audit all books of Account of all Government Ministries, Extra Ministerial Departments, Commissions, Boards, Corporations, Government Agencies and Educational Institutions. THE STRUCTURE In order to achieve the above goals and for administrative convenience, the office of the State Auditor General is structured to operate five Departments and each is headed by a Director. The Departments are: * Headquarters and field organization Department: This Department is responsible for day to day administration including staff welfare, Training, Promotion and Discipline.* Monitoring and Project evaluation Department. This Department Monitors and evaluate Government projects, contracts and undertakes special investigation. * Corporation and Government Agencies Department. Responsible for Auditing the accounts of Government parastatals such as corporations, Boards, commissions and tertiary institutions. * Government Accounts Departments: Audits the revenue and expenditure of all ministries/ Departments including the accounts of the Accountant General. * Educational Institutions Departments: Audits accounts of all secondary schools in the State. All auditing matters relating to Secondary schools are handled by this Department.
