The Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has promised that the New Year would witness the commissioning of the various developmental projects embarked on by his administration in the last two years. He also added that his government is prepared to make life more prosperous for its citizenry. Speaking during a prayer session held yesterday at the Governor’s office to mark the beginning of the year, and attended by renowned clerics, top government functionaries and civil servants in the state, Oni, who tagged 2010 as a year of ‘consolidation and harvest’ spoke of his resolve to ensure that the people of the state begun to reap the reward of the various developmental projects his administration had embarked on.He noted that last year was particularly a difficult year for the country and the state had a share of the depression with its inability to meet up with some of its obligations to the people .He added that adequate measures has been taken to ensure that the state would not face a similar situation this year. “This year, we have physically seen the signs that it would be a wonderful year. We have tagged it a year of consolidation and harvest”. We have in the two years been sowing and we have to sow properly, we have to make sacrifice. lt was a difficult year for everybody, not just for us in Ekiti but for the country ”The storm is over. We will begin to move from grace to grace. Whether there is meltdown or melt up, Ekiti is over the woods, we can begin to say the worst is over in the state. l want to assure everybody that this year would be a lot easier ’’He said The governor charged workers in the state to display a high sense of dedication to duty, adding that his administration would continue to place high premium on the welfare of workers in the state.”I implore all of us to let us work very hard. My charge to all of you is that you should give services that would be conscientious. We, on our part, will smoothen rough edges. Earlier during his sermon, the provincial pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ekiti state Pastor Tayo Allen had told the gathering that the people had every cause to rejoice even with the travails the state had faced in the last one year. He noted that Ekiti had not a single case of “calamitous disaster’’ “We have to give thanks to God irrespective of our travails. We are particularly blessed in this state because, all that is happening in other states like religious strife and all sorts of calamity are not happening here” He urged the people of the state to cooperate with the government in delivering the dividends of democracy. He added that God anoints leaders: “God chooses, God appoints, God ordains. God is the one that put people in positions. Who are we to question God’s authority? Who am l to say what God has done is not the best? Whatever He does, He does them for people to glorify Him” |
