ONI URGES CONTRACTORS TO EXPEDITE WORKS ON BUILDING PROJECTS PDF Print E-mail

Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has urged contractors handling various public building projects in the State to increase their pace, adding that the March, 2009 deadline for the completion of the projects must be met.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications, Mr. Moses Jolayemi said in a statement made available to journalists yesterday that Governor Oni who was on inspection of the new House of Assembly Complex and other public building projects in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital, commended the quality of work done by the contractors.

The governor challenged the contractors to double their effort in order to meet the March, 2009 deadline for the projects completion.

Governor Oni who was accompanied by the Speaker of the State House of assembly, Hon. Olatunji Odeyemi, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Saliu Adeoti and the Chairman House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, the Head of Service, Mr. Femi Adewumi among other top government functionaries reiterated the commitment of hi administration to the institutionalization of quality and prompt service delivery in governance.

His words; "First of all, I am impressed by the quality of work done by the contractors, but they should increase the hours by which they work daily so that they can deliver the projects on time."

Also speaking during the inspection, Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly said the level of work done at the new House of Assembly Complex was impressive.

"I'm impressed by the level of work done and I hope the complex would
be completed as scheduled and by the time this building is completed, Ekiti people will be proud to say that they have one of the best House of Assembly Complex in Nigeria," Adeoti said.

Apart from the Assembly Complex, the governor also paid unscheduled
visit to the on-going State Secretariat building project and the new theatre and intensive care unit, which is undergoing a total reconstruction.
