The Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has described the appointment of four judges into the State Judiciary Service as a step in the right direction, adding that the National Judiciary Council had put “Square peg in a square hole”
In statement signed by the
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, the governor
noted that the four new judges were men of impeccable character, saying
that they have done well in their professional calling and merited the
new appointment.
“The National Judiciary Council recommended them after a careful perusal of their credentials and I can also attest to the fact that these gentlemen have done very well to merit their new positions,” he said He urged the new judges to leave above board in their new assignment, adding that Justice must be seen to be done at all times not minding whose ox is gored. “I challenge you all to be arbiters of a just, fair and equitable society. Your new calling is not a job for the Lilly livered. Sentiments must be cast aside and you must uphold justice irrespective of whose ox is gored.” He noted that his administration has continued to pay attention to the welfare of judicial officials in the state, adding that the workers now enjoy “benefits that were non-existent in the system before”. The names of the new judges include the son of the Elekole of Ikole Ekiti, Prince Adekunle Adeleye, who is a director in the state ministry of justice and Mr. Lekan Ogunmoye who was also the permanent secretary in the ministry. Mr. Olusegun Olabode, the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Justice in the state was also appointed while a private legal practitioner in Ibadan, Mr. Adewale Kayode Fowe also made the list of the new judges. |
