Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has described the death of veteran journalist and “Doyen of Nigerian Journalism, Alhaji Babatunde Jose as an irreparable loss to the journalism profession, saying the late highly respected pen pusher will be missed by all. Governor Oni, who reacted to the death of Alhaji Jose through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Mr. Moses Jolayemi described the late Jose as someone who gave his all to the journalism profession and played pivotal role in giving the profession a sound footing in Nigeria.
His words: “The journalism profession and we, lovers of the profession as well as the entire Nigeria have lost a rare gem. His death has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
“Alhaji Jose gave his best to the journalism profession. While he was building Daily Times to an enviable position, he was also training journalists who became the ladder with which many of the present day’s newspapers rose to the top.
“My advice to the present crop of journalists is that they should emulate the late Jose. They should follow his footstep and practice journalism with fairness, truthfulness and patriotism.
“May his soul rest in peace and may God give members of his family, the pen profession and the entire people of Nigeria the fortitude to bear the loss.” |
