Ekiti State Governor, Engr Segun Oni has launched the Glo Free Access Programme (GFAP) for public servants in the three arms of government and traditional rulers in the State with an assurance that his administration would support any programme that would make life better for the people.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said in a statement that Governor Oni, who was represented at the ceremony in Ado-Ekiti, by his Chief of Staff, Mr Samuel Adekunle  commended the communication giants, Globacom for the initiative under which free SIM cards and directories would be distributed to all public servants in the State Public Service
He  stressed  that  the  program would make communication among  government functionaries  easier, more accessible and affordable, adding that the directory would make  cross-functional accessibility  possible for  all personnel in the State public service  as officials in the same department only have to remember the last four digits of the telephone numbers of their colleagues as the numbers are serially arranged.
Oni, who urged the Management of  Globacom to increase its presence in the State stressed that his administration would continue to provide an enabling environment  for businesses to thrive in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, the Head of Public Sector of Globacom Limited, Mr. Tunde Amunikoro noted that the essence of the Glo Free Access Programme was to provide a platform for all  categories of  civil servants including drivers, stewards and top government officials to  call each other  at remarkably low rates and check up names and numbers of their colleagues  in the three arms of government  in the Ekiti state directory provided by Globacom.
He disclosed that his company had mapped out a Rural Telephony Programme for the State, which the State Government has approved in principle under which people in the rural area in the State would have the  same privilege of making telephone calls like others in the urban area without having to  travel long  distances.
