Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has reiterated the commitment of his administration to the welfare of the less privileged in the society, adding that his donation of N100, 000.00 for the immediate upkeep of a set of triplets delivered in Ado Ekiti, the State capital recently was aimed at bringing succour to their parents.


A Statement from the office of the Governor in Ado Ekiti, the State capital said Governor Oni who had to delay other official functions to attend to the triplets and their mother said that women throughout the State would be empowered to meet up with various challenges of womanhood.

While promising further assistant to the triplets, Governor Oni noted that nursing mothers in developing countries like Nigeria are faced with various challenges, adding that his government would undertake various measures to ensure that nursing mothers in the State do not suffer.

The governor said that the Blue Centres (Hospitals) established across the State by his administration are aimed at reducing maternal mortality in the State, adding  his government would continue to provide necessary facilities and drugs needed for the smooth running of the centres.

“What we are giving you today is just for you to be able to provide the immediate needs of the triplets. We are going to see what further assistance that can still be provided,” Oni told highly elated Mrs. Awoyale said.

Earlier, Governor Oni had promised that widows in the State would benefit immensely from the next phase of the micro credit scheme.

The governor, who noted that women are the engine-room of development in any society, urged the widows to be hard-working and eschew indolence to ensure that various incentives given to them by government are judiciously used for the benefits of their immediate families and society at large.

Thanking the governor for the kind gesture, Mrs. Awoyale who spoke in Yoruba described the cash gift as unexpected saying; “I never expect this kind of money from the governor because I am not an indigene of Ekiti State. This is a rare gift and I pray that God will continue to protect the governor and his families.”
