| ONI COMMISERATES WITH CHINESE GOVT. OVER EARTHQUAKE DISASTER |

The Governor of Ekiti State, Engr. Segun Oni has condoled with President of the People Republic of China, Mr. Hu Jintao and on the tragic earthquake, which rocked the Yu Shu District.The earthquake left nearly 600 people dead while more than 10,000 are thought to have been injured in the 6.9-magnitude tremor that was followed by 18 aftershocks.
Governor Oni through his
Chief Press Secretary Wale Ojo-Lanre said that he was disturbed by the
catastrophic effects of the earth quake which led to the death of
thousands of children, women and rendered thousands of people homeless.Governor Oni said that the effects of such a natural disaster on development and planning cannot be underestimated. “We share this moment of grief with President Hu Jintao, Premier of Yu Shu District, Mr. Wen Jiabao and the entire people of China. “The people and government of China have remained partners in progress with our government, especially in the area of development of Biofuel, and we cannot but be grieved that this is happening to China at this time. “However, in a moment like this, it is only God that can console the government and people of China and on behalf of my family, Government and people of Ekiti State, I express our heartfelt sympathy and wish the people of Yu Shu District in particular and the entire people of China the continued support and guidance of the Almighty God.” |
