Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has inaugurated over 30 boards of agencies and parastatals in the State with a charge to the new board members assist the government in bringing development to the grassroots.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the boards members, governor Oni said the boards which have over 150 indigenes of the state as members  are expected to substantiate developments and as well revolutionise governance by making  sure that more dividends of democracy get to the people.
Oni, who stressed that his administration was committed to the improvement of the living standard of the people opined that the new board members  would further  fast-track the economic growth of their various constituencies.
“What we are doing is to ensure as many people as possible are involved in governance. You should be able to fill in the gap for your people. Be ready to help them. Let them have a feel of government as well. We should endeavour to help our people at the grassroots to ensure the joy goes round,” he charged.
While noting that the state had taken its well-deserved position in the country, Governor Oni he explained that it is presently the best in the Nigeria health sector while it also has the highest density of road construction in the entire West Africa sub-region.
He affirmed that his administration had changed the face of public schools in the state through building infrastructures and supply of school furniture while the world – class Eye Centre put in place by his government had alleviated the sufferings of individuals with eye problems within and outside the state. “For the next 10 elections in this state, we have enough achievements for campaigns.
“We have built new structures in all public schools in this state while furniture have been supplied to them as well.  Somebody, who had suffered blindness for 16 years recently regained his sight at the Eye Hospital that we established. It is no magic, it is because we have done what we should do and we are going to see more people regaining their sights here,’’ the governor said.
