Ekiti State Governor, Engr Segun Oni has charged Permanent Secretaries in the State Civil service to see their positions as an opportunity to touch lives and make positive contributions to society.
Governor Oni, who gave the charge during a Breakfast Meeting with permanent secretaries in Ado-Ekiti urged them  to rededicate themselves to their duties so that all government policies are well implemented.
He said as leaders in their various establishments and communities they should use their positions to promote the welfare of their staff and contribute to the various communities.
The Governor urged the Permanent Secretaries to support the government’s culture of excellence by instituting prizes for brilliant students in their communities, adding that they should also help in supervising personnel at government facilities and institutions in their various neighbourhoods and communities.
“The job of making Ekiti State great is for your own good.  It is for my own good and for everybody’s good. Each of us has a role to play. We should all be agents of change. You are all leaders; take up leadership roles .Change lives in both your places of work and at your various communities. I see a bright future for Ekiti State and we are almost there. By the time we complete the various on-going projects. I can see future where your child and my child and the child of everyone in Ekiti will thank us for making them proud,” Oni said.
While reminding the permanent secretaries that money was not every thing the governor noted they have the chance to make positive contribution to society than the millionaires of the world.
“The position you hold is not common. The position did not come easily. It came by dint of hard work; it came by your competence and by the Grace of God. It is not only money that makes people happy. Touch the lives of people around you and make them happy. I always thank God for allowing me to put smiles on the faces of the people”, He said
Oni urged the bureaucrats to redouble their efforts in the task of taking the state to the next level.
Earlier the State Head of Service, Mr Olufemi Adewumi said the forum was to review the workings of the State Civil Service since the last meeting of the forum.
He commended Governor Oni for his welfare package to the state civil service.
