Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has assured the people of the State of more dividends of democracy in the New Year, 2010, saying; “we will use the year 2010 to consolidate our various developmental strides for the benefit of our people while also completing all ongoing projects.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, Governor Oni, in his New Year message to the people of the State reiterated his commitment to the provision of necessary needs of the people, adding that the government would not relent in its efforts in the New Year.
His words: “Like I said during the Christmas period, the period that we are now calls for greater commitment and rededication to the service of our dear State, Ekiti. Both the government and the governed have critical roles to play in the development of the State. Therefore, this New Year should be used to demonstrate our total love for Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria in general.
“On our part as a government that is responsive to the yearnings of the people, we will continue to do our best to deliver the goods to our people.
“In the New Year and beyond, we will remain focused in our quest to turn the economy of Ekiti State around and make life more meaningful for our people. This commitment has informed our Budget Estimate for the New Year, which we tagged; ‘Budget of Assurance’. With the Budget, we are assuring our people of a life transformation package in the New Year and God being on our side, we are going to deliver more dividends of democracy to our people in year 2010.”
While expressing his gratitude to God for His mercies in 2009, Governor Oni noted that God has shown uncommon love to the State and its people in last two and half years of his administration.
“I thank God for His mercies on us as a people because He has been kind to Ekiti State in the last two and half years.
“In spite of the machinations of desperate politicians, who desire power by all means, God has made the State to be peaceful. And not minding our poor financial resources too, we have been able to show to the world through the unparalleled achievements of this administration in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, poverty alleviation, human development programmes such as micro-credit, scholarship, Enterprise Development, payment of areas of pensions and gratuities, workers’ welfare among several others that we have the ability to develop our State by ourselves.
“I therefore urge the good people of Ekiti State to continue to support us with prayers in the New Year and we, on our side will remain steadfast in our commitment to making the State one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
