EkitiState Governor, Engr. Segun Oni, has
said his new cabinet would comprise accomplished individuals who have made
their marks in their various fields of human endeavour.
Speaking while swearing-in Mr.
Samuel Adekunle as the new Chief of Staff in Ado,
Oni said his administration is fully committed to harnessing the vast human and
material resources available in the State in its bid to make the state the best
state in Nigeria. He said
his administration would take full advantage of the size of the State by
judiciously utilizing its available resources.
“We are not aspiring to be the
biggest State in Nigeria.
What we are aspiring for is to be the best. With just 6,000 sq. km, we are just
1/4 the size of OyoState, 1/3 the size of OndoState and half the size of OsunState. We
have all the manpower required to make the State great and we are fully
committed to maximally utilizing these potentials to our advantage”, Oni said.
The Governor said the focus of
his administration was to transform the State faster than ever before through
rapid infrastructural development, human empowerment in the quality of
Education and Health care delivery.
“In our previous 21 months in
office, we succeeded in improving the road density in the state to the West Africa average. We are taking water supply from 10
percent to almost 70 percent, Primary and Secondary Schools pupils in Ekiti no
longer sit on bare floor. In fact our integrated schools furniture programme
has now continue to move in leaps and bounds that are the more reason why we
need likes of Mr. Adekunle and other accomplished sons and daughters of Ekiti
to join us on this mission”, he said.
He paid glowing tributes to the
former Chief of Staff, Barrister Segun Ilori saying he would always be relevant
in his administration.
Oni said his administration would
soon lay the foundation stone of the new GeneralHospital in Ado
following the upgrading of the existing one into the University of Ado Ekiti
Teaching Hospital.
Responding, the new Chief of
Staff Mr. Adekunle promised to make loyalty, service and diligence his
watchwords.
He expressed appreciation to
Governor Oni for the opportunity given him to serve the people of the State.
Mr Adekunle is a 1970 graduate of
History, Economics, Geography from the University of Ibadan
and retired as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service in 2007.
