| EKSG RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION |

The National University Commission (NUC) has presented the Certificate of Recognition of the newly established University of Science and Technology, Ifaki- (USTI) to the State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni in Abuja. Speaking after formally receiving the certificate from the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof Julius Okojie, Ekiti State Governor, Engr Segun Oni said the mission of his administration is to develop the new university into a centre of excellence in the major fields of science, technology and other associated disciplines. Oni expressed hope that the products of USTI would contribute to the attainment of Nigeria’s Vision 20-20 and other future development plans. The Governor who assured that the new university would be adequately funded announced that a sum of N1.5 Billion has been allocated to the ivory tower in the 2010 budget presently before the House of Assembly. He promised that his administration would ensure that authorities of USTI adhere strictly to the NUC guidelines and enrolment figures for all its programmes. Oni later presented the USTI enabling law and academic brief to the NUC Executive Secretary. Earlier the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof Julius Okojie who congratulated the Ekiti State Governor for fulfilling all major criteria for the establishment of the University, called for proper funding of the newly established ivory tower. He announced that the USTI is the 36th State University and the nation’s 104th university. |
