Ekiti State Government has assured that the people would have access to over 205 million litres of water per day when the construction of new dams and rehabilitation of the old ones are completed.

The State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, who gave the hint in Ado while chatting with journalists, said the construction of the multipurpose Ogbese Dam which was estimated to cost six billion naira would soon commence, adding that all the dams in the state are being looped together for efficiency.

Hon. Olatunbosun explained that the ‘Concessioning of water project’ under the private sector participation programme was not to privatize the dams as being speculated in some national newspapers, adding that it will ensure provision of potable water supply to all nooks and crannies of the state at affordable cost.

The Commissioner said that the 8-points Water Fetching Taps constructed by the administration across the state has enhanced the availability of potable water to all and sundry.

He charged people in the state to protect all facilities provided by government from thieves and vandals who may want to derive them of the dividends of democracy provided by the government.
