Following the landmark success recorded at the first edition of the Ekiti Global Forum organized by the Ekiti in Diaspora for Economic and Social Development (EDESC), Ekiti State Government has concluded plans to stage an International Arts Exhibition tagged EKITI KETE: People and Places.

Hon. Bolanle Bruce, Senior Executive Assistant to the State Governor on Ekitis in Diaspora said in a release made available to press men that the 5- day event, which is the first of its kind to ever come up on Ekiti soil is billed to hold between April 28 and May 2, 2010 in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

She noted that the event would be a photography exhibition, which will showcase the rich cultural affinity and tourism potentialities of the State.

“Culturally, Ekiti is very rich. Apart from having its own unique traditional ways of dressing, dancing, festivals, religion, delicacies and other ways of life, it is the only homogenous state in Nigeria “Interestingly, many people have visited Ekiti tourist centres like the Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort, Ipole- Iloro Water Falls, Arinta Water Falls, Fajuyi Memorial Park, the Olosunta Hills in Ikere to mention a few but not many have heard that the real source of the world famous Osun river is in Igede Ekiti. These and many more await people that would grace the event,” Bolanle Bruce said.

Speaking further, Bruce said; “The Chief Host and the State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni excitedly looks forward to this event which is aimed at further cementing the cordial relationship that already exists between the State Government and Ekitis in Diaspora.
“The exhibitor is Prof. Alfred Olusegun Fayemi, a New York based Nigerian of Ekiti extraction. He is equally ecstatic and looks forward to a highly successful outing. The Father of the day is legal luminary, Aare Bamofin Afe Babalola (SAN) while the Special Guest of Honour is another distinguished Ekiti son, who is a Director, MTN and
Chairman Access Bank Plc.; Mr. Gbenga Oyebode.

“Other dignitaries expected at the event include art buffs and collectors, National Assembly members, captains of industry, political leaders and distinguished Ekiti sons and daughters from both local and international diaspora.”
