Ekiti State Governor, Engr Segun Oni has restated the commitment of his administration to the development of the Ipole-Iloro waterfalls into a tourist centre of international standard.

the Governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said in a statement that Governor Oni,
who made this known while inspecting a newly constructed 5-kilometer
road linking Ipole-Iloro community to the waterfalls said the
completion of the road, was the first major step towards putting the
Waterfalls in the national and global tourism map.He disclosed that a concrete staircase would be constructed from the point where the road terminates to adjoining hills where tourists would be able to have a panoramic view of the waterfalls, adding that resting points would also be constructed to make the journey to the summit of the hill as pleasurable and interesting as possible for tourists visiting the waterfall. He disclosed that the State government was doing everything possible to harness the State’s tourism potentials, adding that no efforts would be spared in making the State one of the major players in the emerging tourism market. “As parts of our efforts to make the waterfalls accessible to tourists from any part of the country, we have completed the 21-kilometer Ikogosi-Ipole Iloro-Efon road while the 11-kilometer Ipole Iloro –Ogotun road recently awarded at a cost of N517 million is ongoing,” Oni said. Oni later inspected ongoing construction work on the 33-kilometer Ijan-Ise-Iso- Ondo boundary road, the 10-kilometer Ode- Ijesa Isu Road and the 15-kilometer Erijiyan-Ilawe Road, which were at various stages of completion. |
