Ekiti State Governor, Engr Segun Oni, has said that his new cabinet would comprise of accomplished individuals who have made their marks in their various fields of human endeavour, adding that his government would make use of the best brains in the State to achieve its set objectives.


Speaking while swearing-in Mr. Samuel Adekunle as the new Chief Of  Staff in Ado-Ekiti, Oni said his administration is fully committed to harnessing the vast human and material resources available in the State in its bid to make the state the best state in Nigeria.

He said his administration would maximally take advantage of the smallness of the State by judiciously utilizing its available resources.

“We are not aspiring to be the biggest state in Nigeria .What we are aspiring for is to be  the best. With just 6,000 sq. km, we are just ¼ the size of Oyo State, 1/3 the size of Ondo State and half the size of Osun State. We have all the human and materials required to make the state great and we are fully committed to maximally utilizing these potentials to our advantage,” Oni said.

 The Governor said the focus of his administration was to transform the State faster than ever before through rapid infrastructural development, human empowerment, improvement in the quality of Education and Health care delivery.

 “In our previous 21 months in office, we succeeded in improving the road density in the State to the West Africabench mark for many States in Nigeria. We want to continue to move in leaps and bounds, that is the more reason we need the likes of Mr. Adekunle and other accomplished Sons and Daughters of Ekiti to join us on this mission,” he said. average. Oni said his administration would soon lay the foundation stone of the new General Gospital in Ado Ekiti, following the upgrading of the existing one into the University of Ado Ekiti Teaching Hospital.

Responding, the new Chief of Staff promised to make loyalty, service and diligence his watchwords.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Oni for the opportunity giving him to serve the people of the State.

Mr. Adekunle  is a 1970 graduate of History, Economics, Geography from the University of Ibadan. He retired as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service in 2007.
