The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed a resolution directing the State Governor to redeploy the Director General of state owned broadcasting outfit (BSES).
This followed the report of the committee on Public Petitions which investigated the petition against the Director General of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES), Dr. Segun Aderiye and the recent crisis rocking the organization.
The staff of BSES under the aegis of their unions had earlier petitioned the Assembly on the alleged high handedness of the Dirctor-General.
submitting the report of the Committee, its Vice Chairman, Hon Lai Oke noted that hte situation at the State's media house calls for urgent attention.
Hon. Oke who is the leader of Government Business described the intervention of the Legislature as timely, in view of the recent shut down of the station.
The committee recommended the procurement of modern equipment for the station to enhance its operations.
Debating the report, the lawmakers observed that only the removal of the DG could promote peace and industrial harmony in the organization.
They said that a situation whereby the DG did not enjoy the support of over 80 percent of the workforce cannot guarantee peace in the organization if he, the (DG) was imposed on them.
The lawmakers hereby urged the State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni to urgently redeploy him or resign in the interest of peace in the broadcasting outfit.
Members of the Assembly, however, condemned the shutting down of the stations by the staff and warned them to refrain from such acts in the future.
