State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has said the Beijing Olympic Football
Gold Medal is a must win for the Dream Team IV, adding that all
Nigerians must pray for the success of the team in the final match. A
statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on
Public Communications, Mr. Moses Jolayemi stated that Governor Oni who
was very elated to see the Nigeria under 23 team defeats their Belgian
counterpart to book a
place final expressed confidence in the ability of Nigeria to win the soccer gold once again.
Governor Oni, who was said to have staged glued to the television set while the match against Belgium lasted described the victory in the semi-final match as a morale booster for Nigerians.
“These boys are great. They have given us something to be happy about today and I want to urge them to let us have the gold for the second time.
“I am confident that the Samson Siasia tutored boys are capable to doing us proud. They have done it before and I am sure they will do it again. They have given us something to be happy about today and God will crown their efforts with gold,” Oni said.
While congratulating the team coach for the feat achieved so far, Governor Oni urged him to continue to give his best to the country, saying the future of football in Nigeria lies in competent hands like him |
